Automatic Hydraulic & Chain Scrapers
Automatic Hydraulic Scraper System
- No large Ram Box at the end of the passage
- Flexibility on position of ram, as no electrics are used
- Fully galvanised top and base track
- Heavy duty scraper blades
- One panel can operate up to 6 passages
- System monitored by pressure sensor and relief valve
- Pressure dump valve to relieve pressure on start up of motor
- Very efficient with low cost maintenance
- Very simple to operate
The Scraper Blade
Each Scraper Blade is made individually to suit the width of your passage way, they can be any width up to 6 metres. The tracking has a Base and a Top Track. The Base Track gives flexibility during installation, if the ground within the passage is not level.
The Top Track can either have a Rounded Profile or a Square Profile, the square profile is more commonly used where vehicles are regularly driven over it.
The Ram Box
The Ram Box is placed into a sump which is cut out of the floor in any position in the passage way. This allows the passage ways to be of different lengths without the need for an extra motor, therefore eliminating the need for extra Hydraulic hose.
This is the only system to have no electrics in the Ram Box, so no problems will occur due to moisture and slurry entering the box.
Then a top track is placed over, giving the Ram full protection and allowing the Scraper to travel over the top of Ram to the park position.
Scraper Operation
The system can be operated in two ways, either one passage at a time, driven by a 1.5kw motor, or two passages at a time, driven by a 2.2kw motor. The second option usually applies when cubical passages and feed passages need to be run simultaneously.
6 passages can be operated from one automatic sequence, up to 24 times a day. The pressure sensor monitors the movement of all the Rams, detecting cowdown and in such situations will turn the motor off for one minute, after this one minute the passage will try again. If the cow has moved, the scraper will carry on to do its sequence. If the cow is still there this passage will shut down and other passage ways will not be affected and they will carry on there Automatic Sequence. Other features include Oil Level Gauge, Filter Indicator Gauge, Filler Breather Cap and Pressure Dump Valve.

Automatic Chain Scraper System
With over 20 years of experience working with Automatic Scraper Systems, we have developed Storth Scrapers; the only way forward to increase efficiency and create a more healthy environment for your animals.
- Deep casehardened chain
- Quick tensioning method
- Heavy duty scraper blades
- System monitored by motor current sensing
- One panel can operate up to 4 passages
- Adjusted to suit all types of building
- Fully galvanised corner boxes
- Very easy to operate and install
The Storth chain scraper panel is fully electronic and simple to operate. Automatic scrapes can be programmed up to 24 times a day and manual scrapes can take place when in auto. During scraping the panel monitors the amps the motor is using, if there is a cow down the motor amps rise and shut down the motor, the scraper will back away 1 meter there after will try again, if there is no obstruction the scrape will carry on, if there is still an obstruction the panel will shut down until the problem is sorted. The panel can operate 2 motors allowing 4 passages to be scraped out. The maximum length is 72 meters (240 ft) the maximum width is 6 meters (18 ft).
Motor driven
The system is driven by a robust 0.55kw motor with an output speed of 5.2rpm. Also a limit switch is fitted on the output shaft which controls the distance the scraper blades travel. Most systems allow the scrapers to stall out the motor against buffer springs, which sees a surge of current but this causes a lot of strain on the system. Therefore the Storth system prolongs the life of components.
Galvanised Corner Boxes
Corner boxes are made of 6mm steel and are fully galvanised. Corner rollers are made of cast steel with two centre bearings which allows the roller to move efficiently and keep its shape, the centre pin has a grease point to allow grease to the bearings. The chain has 14 mm diameter links pre-stretched to 20 tonnes. The chain is also case hardened to minimise wear factors.
Yard Scrapers
- Fully galvanised 6', 6'6" and 7'6" Yard Scraper
- Cleaner yards
- Reduced scraping time
- Reduced spillage
- Follows uneven surfaces
- Easily changeable parts
- No pivoting points

A-frame and 3-point linkage standard on all models. All yard scrapers are twin bladed, using hard wearing high-impact strength rubber. With perfect elasticity, high tensile strength, good impact resistance and little elongation, the Storth Yard Scraper gives the very best results.
